"My first introduction to Heather was as a client in her first pregnancy in the year 2000.   I had the privilege of being Heather's midwife through her three pregnancies, including the birth and palliative care of her son who was born with Trisomy 18.   She is someone who has lived with physical disabilities her whole life and is intimately knowledgeable about the lived experience of receiving health care.   She is an advocate for compassionate health care and also for disability awareness.  She has worked as a doula for pregnant people with high risk pregnancies and has also helped families navigate the challenges of birthing and caring for severely health challenged children building on the experience she had of carrying a baby with Trisomy to term and parenting him through the process of palliative care.     She has a wealth of knowledge to share around doing educational work about birth, disability, accessibility, advocacy and change management within the system.  I feel privileged to have had Heather as a client and to have learned from her and I feel privileged to now call her a friend.   She has a wealth of wisdom and lived experience to share with midwives, midwifery students and anyone doing work in health care or within the birthing sphere."  Remi Ejiwunmi
