The Alongside Midwifery Unit (AMU) at Markham Stouffville Hospital is an innovative model of care designed by midwives and consumers and led, governed and staffed by midwives. During this workshop participants will learn how and why the AMU created this unique program and their results so far. Participants will then explore using a Coach approach opportunities that exist in their own areas and programs, opportunism for change, and begin to develop strategies to envision, develop, lead and motivate meaningful change.
A clearer Understanding of the Alongside Midwifery Unit (AMU), how it was created and how it operates. Explore where opportunities for a similar model may exist for other midwives and healthcare practitioners. Participants will be able to explore the first steps in leading and managing meaningful change. This Pre-Conference Workshop is meant to be an Interactive morning which will end with a tour of the AMU.
