Learning to recognize and respond to family violence is essential for midwifery education and practice.  As professionals who provide clinical care in the community and who develop trusting relationships with individuals, midwives are likely to encounter family violence. This presentation will introduce the VEGA: Violence, Evidence, Guidance, and Action Project. Guided by 22 national organizations, including CAM and NACM, VEGA is providing trauma- and violence-informed education and resources for “Recognizing and Responding Safely” to intimate partner violence (IPV), child maltreatment and children’s exposure to IPV.
