Call for Code of Ethics Task Force Members

The purpose of the Code of Ethics Task Force is to develop a Code of Ethics for the profession of midwifery in Ontario.

The Task Force is expected to draft a Code of Ethics for the profession of midwifery and present this document and any accompanying recommendations at the 2019 March Board meeting for Board approval. The Task Force is expected to take into the account, at a minimum, the following in the development of the Code of Ethics:

  • Filling the gap left by the anticipated rescinding of the CMO Code of Ethics
  • Addressing both clinical and practice management issues
  • Considering a plan for obtaining member input into the development of a Code of Ethics Committee

Membership

We are currently seeking to fill seven open member positions and one student member on this Task Force. Membership terms last to November 30, 2019.

Selection will be based on best representation of membership demographics, formal education in the area of ethics, and to provide opportunities to members who are not currently involved in other AOM activities.

The Task Force will have a minimum of three meetings prior to November 30, 2019. Task Force members will also be required to provide input between meetings via telephone or email.
