Ontario midwives are committed to providing safe, excellent care to all Ontario residents. All midwives receive training in providing care to equity-seeking groups; some clinics have developed particular expertise in providing care for 2SLGBTQQIA+ clients, those who speak certain languages, Indigenous clients, or clients from diverse communities.

Midwives are also uniquely situated to provide care to Ontario residents who don't have OHIP. People without health insurance in Ontario can access the same, excellent care as those with OHIP coverage. Read more here.

Midwives can access funding from the MOH (caseload variables or CVs) that support their work with people from diverse and equity-seeking communities. Midwives are encouraged to review Schedule A of the Funding Agreement to understand the purposes of the CVs and how they may be accessed.
