During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the ESW was offered in a hybrid virtual and in-person format. The hands-on component of the workshop continued to be offered safely and effectively in-person, preserving the integrity of the ESW program, with measures and precautions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Even during a global pandemic, midwives have continued to commit to engage in regular continuing competency training to attend births and respond to birth emergencies both in and outside the hospital in order to provide their clients optimal care.
