Accessing Digital Health Tools

Ontario’s digital health tools help connect health care providers, information, and care settings across the province. These PHIPA-compliant tools include clinical viewers, digital care platforms and online referral and consultation services support secure access to clinical information and improved access to care.

For midwives, these tools are an essential component of being effectively integrated into the interprofessional health care system. Access to shared digital systems can support timely information exchange, informed clinical decision-making, smoother referrals and transfers, and continuity of care for adult and newborn clients.

As members of interprofessional care teams and Ontario’s broader connected care system, midwives can use provincial digital health tools to participate more fully in coordinated, client-centred care across settings. Visit the eHealth Ontario website to view the full list of provincially-supported digital health services, and view the resources below for midwifery-specific guidance.
