Erica Elderhorst
RM, MSc(c)

Erica Elderhorst is currently pursuing her MSc in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University under the supervision of Dr. Liz Darling and is a fellow member of the McMaster Midwifery Research Centre. Elderhorst also works as a registered midwife in Hamilton, Ontario. The objective of this study is to determine the feasibility of a full-scale randomized controlled trial to understand how sodium bicarbonate consumed as a hydration drink in labour may impact birth outcomes.

Andrea Robertson
RM, MA, PhD(c) 

Andrea Robertson is an associate professor in the Midwifery Education Program at Ryerson University. Her research interests include exploring the relationship dimensions of midwifery and articulating what makes midwifery care unique. Robertson and her team will be conducting a Delphi study to identify current prioritites for midwifery-led research in Ontario.

Emma

Emma Seager
RM, MSc(c)

Emma Seager is a midwife at Access Midwives in Hamilton and an MSc student in the Health Science Education program at McMaster University. With mentorship provided by Dr. Liz Darling, her retrospective chart review will explore the relationship between cervical dilation on hospital admission and subsequent outcomes and will evaluate the effects of an early labour home assessment. This project will contribute to our understanding of best practices to support spontaneous vaginal birth.
